The incident reportedly occurred at a hotel in Kano, where the suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp knife after learning of his intention to marry someone else.
According to the command's spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, police received a distress report from the management of Durbar Hotel in Badawa at about 12:50 p.m. on Monday and immediately dispatched detectives to the scene.
"On getting there it was discovered that the suspect had severed the victim's manhood during the attack. The suspect was arrested, and the weapon, a sharp knife, was recovered as an exhibit," Haruna-Kiyawa said.
The victim was rushed to Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.
In a separate incident, the police also arrested three suspects, including a husband, his wife and another man, over the alleged killing of 30-year-old Abubakar Auwal.
According to the police, Auwal was allegedly lured and brutally assaulted over claims that he was involved with a married woman. He was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital but was later confirmed dead by doctors.
The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu-Bakori, condemned both incidents and warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.
He stressed that the Nigeria Police Force is responsible for investigating crimes and ensuring suspects are prosecuted through due process, assuring that those involved in both cases will be charged in court after investigations are concluded.
